PG&E announced last week that it plans to offer up two small, non-operational hydroelectric facilities in Kern and Tulare counties this summer. PG&E is selling historic South Valley hydro plants in Springville after fire damaged them last year. To the southeast, power is changing hands. Sunrise runs approximately 75,000 tests in the Micro and Chemistry Departments per month. The lab relocated from Tulare late last year, according to spokeswoman Brooke Bennett. They include a new Innovation Center, a research and development unit as well as a center called Sunrise Lab which employs 67 professionals on Doe Avenue. It's not known if the firearms dealer would keep both locations. Smoking Barrel Firearms submitted the plan, but store employees said they had no idea. A preliminary plan has been submitted to Visailia officials to turn the vacant car dealership building at Mineral King Avenue and Burke Street into a retail gun store and indoor shooting range. The biggest change to downtown, though, could come in the form of an indoor shooting range where an unsightly former car dealership now stands. That vote could come today during the City Council meeting. ![]() Visalia City Council may vote to sell City Hall and expedite the move to the Civic Center, where the emergency communications center just opened near Tipton Street and Ben Maddox Way. The old Midtown Sports building, all 5,000 square-feet, is looking for new life with a residential/retail mixed use permit. The Poke House will open with a new kitchen, and may hit downtown soon. The Bone Store will be relocating to the Winco shopping center toward the end of May, where they will have more space. Visalia will see new retailers in coming weeks and months including a new paint store on Mooney Boulevard, Dunn Edwards Paints and a new poké restaurant downtown.īut some of the biggest changes could be which retailers are moving or expanding.
